The Summer Draft Skate - Holiday Skate is a now-annual skate comprised of local professional, college, and junior players from the greater Metro Detroit area that returned home for the holidays!

The Summer Draft Skate - Holiday Skate featured an Ugly Sweater Contest presented by Dee’s Sport Shop with first place, second place, and third place winners awarded custom gift packages featuring backpacks filled with merchandise such as hats, shirts, and hoodies gifted by Dee’s Sport Shop!

Additionally, each player was gifted a custom t-shirt and fanny pack with a roll of tape gifted by Dee’s Sport Shop!

GAME FORMAT:

• Three 20 minute stop-time periods

• Two referees

• NHL rules apply - this is a strict non-contact skate and checking/hitting/fighting is strictly prohibited

• No penalties - all penalties result in a penalty shot

• Scorekeeper

• Live music

• Jerseys and pucks provided

PRICE:

• $30 per skater per skate - goalies skate free

• Cash or Venmo is accepted

THE DRAFT - HOW IT WORKS:

1.) Players register as individuals for the skate.

2.) At the rink, two selected ‘team captains’ will draft teams from the list of registered individuals. Once teams are drafted, the players receive a jersey for their respective team.

3.) The puck drops, the skate begins, and we play hockey!

4.) Upon completion of the skate, the jerseys are collected (and washed) and ready for the next skate.

The Summer Draft Skate - Holiday Skate is invite-only and player spots must be approved. Summer Draft Skate reserves the right to add, amend or remove any Summer Draft Skate procedure, policy, rule or regulation including, but not limited to, playing rules, eligibility rules, game format, to select or permit qualified teams/individuals to compete in the Summer Draft Skate or to align or change a player(s), in any particular skill level at any time, if it is deemed in the best interest of the Summer Draft Skate. All decisions of Summer Draft Skate are final.
