THE SKATES
The Summer Draft Skate - Pro Skate is comprised of local professional (NHL, AHL, ECHL, etc.), college (NCAA D1/D3, select ACHA), and junior (CHL, USHL, NAHL, etc.) players from the greater Metro Detroit area!

GAME FORMAT:
Three 20 minute stop-time periods
Two referees
NHL rules apply - this is a strict non-contact skate and checking/hitting/fighting is strictly prohibited
No penalties - all penalties result in a penalty shot

Jerseys and pucks provided
PRICE:
$30 per skater per skate - goalies skate free
THE DRAFT - HOW IT WORKS:
1.) Players register as individuals for each skate.
2.) At the rink, two selected ‘team captains’ will draft teams from the list of registered individuals. Once teams are drafted, the players receive a jersey for their respective team.
3.) The puck drops, the skate begins, and we play hockey!
4.) Upon completion of the skate, the jerseys are collected (and washed) and ready for the next skate.
THE DRAFT - WHY IT WORKS:
Unlike a traditional league, there’s no upfront commitment on the players at the beginning of the summer - we don’t ask players to commit their limited time during their short summer offseason and we don’t ask players to pay an upfront fee!
We understand players are busy throughout their short summer offseason - the Summer Draft Skate allows players to select which skates they’re able to compete in based on their schedules! The Summer Draft Skate offers this unique approach to best accommodate each player on their availabilities.
While we have a solid core group of loyal players who compete each skate, the team rosters are always different due to The Draft - this allows for players to interact, learn from, and compete with other players who share similar goals of reaching the next level!
This is not a league - it’s the Summer Draft Skate!

The Summer Draft Skate - Pro Skate is invite-only and player spots must be approved. Summer Draft Skate reserves the right to add, amend or remove any Summer Draft Skate procedure, policy, rule or regulation including, but not limited to, playing rules, eligibility rules, game format, to select or permit qualified teams/individuals to compete in the Summer Draft Skate or to align or change a player(s), in any particular skill level at any time, if it is deemed in the best interest of the Summer Draft Skate. All decisions of Summer Draft Skate are final.

The newest addition of the Summer Draft Skate in 2026!
The Summer Draft Skate - Elite Skate is comprised of local college (ACHA), junior (NCDC, USPHL, GOHL, etc.), AAA (18U, 16U), and select High School players from the greater Metro Detroit area!
